MONPECCseminar with Dr. Hugh T. Patrick, a member of USPECC and a professor of Graduate School of Business, ColumbiaUniversity, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Itgemjit meeting room on June 6th.
Mr. Jargalsaikhan D., Secretary General of MONPECC, opened the seminar by his welcoming speech and introduced MONPECC acitivites to seminar participants. Dr. Hashchuluun Ch., MONPECC board member and a Director of School of Economic Studies of National University of Mongolia, made a briefing on Mongolian Economy. The briefing was followed by a short presentation on Mongolian Asian Policy by Mr. Sereejav J., a Director of Press Division of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Patrick is a specialist on Japanese economy and he is a Director of Center on Japanese Economy and Business, Graduate School of Business, ColumbiaUniversity, and co-Director of APECStudiesCenter at ColumbiaUniversity. He is a member and Board of Directors, U.S. National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation and a founding member of US Asia-Pacific Council and other number of organizations.
Seminar participants were MONPECC members, senior academicians, researchers from major Research Institutes, and senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants exchanged their views on Mongolian economic and political affairs, Mongolian economic integration with Northeast and East Asia, and Mongolian relations with PECC and APEC economies.
Dr. Patrick, who made very brilliant comments about his impression of economic, political and cultural aspects of Mongolia. Dr. Patrick is an author of number of books, publications on Japanese and Asian economy and political economy, US-Japan relations, international economics, international financial system, ASEAN, and other areas. His current research activities include Japanese economic performance, Japan’s banking and financial system reform, Asian‑Pacific economic relations and APEC, Japanese and Asian corporate governance. Participants asked questions on his research area and Dr. Patrick shared his knowledge and experience with participants.
